Asia Cup 2008
The 2008 Asia Cup takes place in Pakistan in June 2008. The six teams which take part in the tournament are Bangladesh, India, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UAE. This will be the first Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan; previously political tensions between India and Pakistan did not permit Pakistan to host the event. It will be broadcasted in India by Star Cricket and ESPN and in Pakistan by Geo Super.
Originally, the 9th version of the Cup was supposed to take place in 2006, however packed international cricket schedules did not allow for the tournament to be held.
Group A consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
Group B consists of India, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
The two groups will first have a separate round-robin competition. The top 2 from each group will go on to the Super Fours. There will be a round-robin competition again between the Super Four, the first two from which will advance to the final.
